I talked with a friend today about meeting for lunch in Gibsons. “Have you been to the Crepe place? It’s sooo good,” she said.

I had visited the Clever Crepe on the weekend, I told her. The delicate, delicious crepes are heaped with fresh, sweet or savory ingredients that will make you go back for more, again and again.

Proprietors Lou Johnson and Kerry Lane opened the place in January, at 280 Gower Point Road. It sits below two larger restaurants, the Pink House Bistro, which opened early this month, and Sushi Bar Nagomi.

“We’re a little food hub here,” Lane said, referring to all three restaurants.

You may have a hard time finding the Clever Crepe, which is the smallest of the bunch. The shed-sized cedar hut used to be a jewelry kiosk. Its only street-facing window is well above eye level.

It’s mostly a take-out place, but my husband and I enjoyed our crepes inside on two of the three counter stools. There are also benches and tables outside at street level.

I loved the sweet blueberry crepe. Fresh cherries had arrived that day (not on the menu for the item). Lane asked if I wanted some and added them gratis.

I’m going back for a three-cheese crepe soon, and then maybe a breakfast crepe on Sunday, and probably the salmon one after that.
